BDA to go hard on unauthorized layouts

The planning authorities, Bangalore Development Authority and Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority have  decided to act tough on unauthorized layouts.  Any layouts are to be approved by either BDA or BMRDA or other planning agencies.  Planning agencies are often releasing the list of unauthorized layouts cautioning the people not to purchase sites in such layouts.  Such layouts are formed and marketed by very influential people like government employees, city municipal council members,  ex. Mayors. According to BDA they are about 109 illegal layouts, and BDA website lists about 104.

Despite repeated caution notices by BDA, people are lured to buy sites, by glossy eye-catching advertisement, brochures  Often land developers  advertise that the layouts are approved.

BDA has decided to take the bull by horn instead of advising the people  not to buy sites in such layouts.

BDA has asked the banks not to sanction loans to such projects.  It has also opened dialogue with  Stamps and Registration departments and has requested the Inspector General of Registration and commissioner of Stamps not to register properties without approval of layouts from BDA.  It is understood that IGR has agreed for the suggestion but, wants a detailed discussion with BDA before implementing the suggestion.   BDA has issued notices to all owners of layouts.  Many layouts have come up in Green belt area and also in civic amenity sites.

However BDA or BMRDA  should make its norms for layout more transparent educate the Public and should gear up the machinery to approve the layouts conforming to the norms or should initiate action without delay.  As the city is growing and demand for land is very high  people are too anxious to purchase any land without worrying about future consequences.
